Broiler/Fryer:  Daily National Broiler Market at-a-Glance


Whole broiler/fryer prices are generally steady at best for 3.5lb and up
birds and firm on smaller sizes. Offerings are in close balance and moving 
well for small birds and moderate to heavy on larger birds. Demand into 
retail and food service channels ranged light to moderate some instances 
good in the Western region. Floor stocks are adequate for current needs. 
Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts structure, tenderloins
are steady at best and bone-in breasts are about steady. The market on 
dark items is steady to firm with drums and b/s thighs showing a bulk of
the firmness. Supplies of dark meat items are light to moderate with thighs,
thigh meat, legs and leg quarters are in the better balance; tenders and wings
are sufficient and b/s breast are moderate to heavy for current needs. Market 
activity is slow to moderate.  In production areas, live supplies are moderate
at mostly desirable weights.
